As of 2020 we now have a state-of-the-art “8” buoy slalom course. The design and operation of this course allow for a longer set up time and no more need for “J turns” into the course, or quick pullouts while the boat is still accelerating. The course operation allows for the skier to ski the last 6 buoys of the 8 buoy setup. See the diagrams below. For those familiar with 8 buoys setups, there is no need to worry about the “0 ball” on your gate turn in, it is pulled out of the way at the beginning of every pass. This removes any distraction to the skier and allows gate setups to feel like a normal 6 buoy course.
